I think I’m overdue for a full update, so here we go.

Squirrels apparently make friends with people who share Cliff bars.

Maggie’s 4/26 infusion was well-tolerated. We had a quiet, restful weekend in Houston with low pain/nausea levels and no breakthrough pain to speak of. This trend continued into Sunday when we were able to start getting out around town just a little. We made a late afternoon trip to the gardens at Hermann Park. Maggie took her camera and captured some amazing shots (included here) of flowers and a friendly squirrel. IMG_8173-min On Tuesday, we FINALLY made it to Anthropologie to let her spend a Christmas gift card (This particular trip has been delayed/aborted more times than I can count due to some sort of side effect issue each time). We’re glad to mark this one off the list, and the gift card is no more!

She’s the photographer, but I had the best subject.

One permanent effect of chemo/cancer for Maggie is an increase in her baseline heart rate. On a stress-free day with no other issues, her resting rate is around 100. Often when measured prior to treatment, it may be as high as 130-140. Dehydration can push it a bit higher. Her primary doctor wanted to have her checked out by a cardiologist to rule out any contributing factors of concern. Last Thursday, Maggie had an appointment with a cardiologist. Her EKG looked fine, but he ordered an echocardiogram to rule out fluid around the heart. This test was performed today (at MDA), and we’ve already received the all clear. Her heart beats fast but is working fine.  And we sure don’t need a doctor to tell us just how big her heart is!

Maggie will have her next treatment tomorrow (5/3) afternoon. If all goes well, we plan to drive home Friday morning for a long weekend in the Burg. I’m not going to jinx her plans by mentioning them. We are praying for minimal side effects so she can get out and enjoy time with friends.
