In another movement from the sweet Hands of Providence, we are in Houston settled in an apartment that couldn’t be any more ideal for us. We got a call yesterday evening from Sally with the church apartment ministry group. (We had placed an application the day before NEVER expecting to hear so soon. They typically take longer to screen and process, we were told). Sally told us she was finishing the cleaning and would have it ready for us to move in as soon as we got to town (we thought we would be in the hotel a night or two at least). It has every feature we marked as a necessity and bonus features we only hoped to see. We’re in the same neighborhood as the hotel we always use – surrounded by familiar. I hadn’t realized how much my soul was craving a ROUTINE (of which I’ve always been a creature and have sorely missed at times the past four years) until I felt peace flood my heart when we made this decision to settle in a place for Maggie. The family separation will be tough, but we’re ready for the challenge. The “UP” side of technology is keeping loved ones in tune with one another.
Tomorrow we have an early lab appointment and an afternoon exam/consult with Dr. Raghav at which time we will learn the plan for going ahead with the trial. Maggie is still in major discomfort in the liver region. We’re anxious to get this under control and will make that a priority topic.
It has been a whirlwind 24 hours. We packed last night, made the trip here, settled our stuff in place, shopped for groceries, picked up Subway, and figured out the WiFi and TV controls. We’re pooped! But thankful for the magnanimous generosity of our Lord working through His servants here in Houston and back home. We have had offers of help from family and friends to find us a place. The group we used, http://www.churchapartmentministry.org, was referred by a dear friend whose dad used them while in treatment at MDA. (I’m making that a link for anyone in need of their ministry) We’ve had others message us contact information. We’re overwhelmed with the love and support. Thank you! Now we can move back to the work of healing for Maggie. We’re praying her body is ready to proceed with the clinical trial; that it will be SAFE and EFFECTIVE for her; and that she will find relief from pain and discomfort soon.
Good night.
