Despite our prayers, Maggie didn’t make it to the Easter service at TBC. She is spending most of her time in bed still trying to recover from recent events and traveling. Because air travel was not comfortable for her, we’re driving to Houston this Wednesday for her next treatment which will be on Thursday (as far as we know right now – we’ve not heard a definitive word on her status in the trial but her appointments are active in her MyChart account). We also feel it’s in her best interest to reduce traveling to a minimum. We’re working to find a rental close to the medical center and may be setting up house there later this week or next. This has not been an easy decision (we love our family time at home), but we’re in agreement it is the best solution. Travel wears all of us out. (Big prayers appreciated for us to find a suitable place quickly).  Two recent images from Houston:

The trail around Hermann Park where I run.

As you can see, we continue to have times of pain with a sprinkling of breath-grabbing-beautiful moments along this road. In my run Friday in a crazy-crowded Hermann Park, I spoke with a man walking his dog. In response to a question, Maggie’s story dripped out. As he left, he said, “I really hope everything goes well for her. I’m an atheist, so I don’t pray. But I will be thinking of her.” I only had a chance to tell him we’re Christians who do pray but appreciate his kind thoughts, too. I wish there had been more time to tell him about a God who created the beauty around us and still cares enough to hold Maggie in His Hand. I’m praying “Fletch” will meet our Lord.

We’ll continue to update as our plans take flesh. We appreciate the prayers for Maggie’s comfort and healing and for a comfortable place to offer peace and rest. Thank you!
