We wanted to share a quick update to let you know Maggie is better. She has responded to the PCA/continuous morphine pump for her pain. The plan is to let her have it until morning then start weaning her off. The pain management plan going forward is to increase her patch to reduce/eliminate breakthrough episodes. She is still spiking fever, though the spikes are becoming smaller, so we’re making progress. Doctors here are coordinating with MD Anderson to determine what might have led to the fever, fatigue, dehydration, and increase in pain. Looking at lab results from Batson today and tomorrow will help her MDA team identify the exact relationship between Maggie’s condition and the clinical drug infusion she received Friday. We’re working toward discharge – either later tomorrow or Wednesday morning. We are currently planning to make the trip to Houston for the next treatment if she continues to improve.

We’ll update as we have more answers and clearer plans. Like I’ve said before, I love mysteries – in books and on Forensic Files and Dateline – not in medical matters. Unanswered questions are tough for me, as I’m sure they are for you. Pray we continue to have patience to wait and faith to rest. Goodnight.
