Maggie will be having her PET scan tomorrow from 12:00 – 2:00 in Jackson. Prep day is tough on this girl! She has to eat a low carb/high protein diet, and she loves carbs like her mother does. She’s managed it well with the promise of a good lunch tomorrow after the scan is complete. (She’s thinking Pig and Pint – pulled pork nachos, anyone?) Most likely, we will hear the results on Wednesday after the discussion of her case during tumor conference. Once we know the results, we’ll share and let you know if chemo is still on for Thursday (the plan now).

Maggie has been plagued several times this past week by intense pain in the same location – right mid to lower back area. We’re praying the scan sheds light on this particular issue so we can address it. After the last scan showed good response to chemo, she began lowering the level of her pain patch (no easy task but she handled it like the champ she is). The back pain started to “break through” the new, lower level of pain medication. Once we know the root cause, we can work with her doctors to formulate the best response to this.

We’re praying for accurate results from the scan to allow continuation or revision in her treatment plan. Obviously we would love the same report we got last time – any amount of “stable” or “shrinking” would be just fine. We do also pray for wisdom for her doctors as they assess the results and recommend the next step. We do have other chemo options if a change is indicated. We do pray for that miracle cure – we know God is able. Our first prayer is for His work in Maggie and in our midst to be what will bring glory to Him and praise from us.

Thank you for your prayers. We do feel them and their answers. We’ve been able to rest in knowing God is in full control over Maggie’s life. We’ll update as soon as we have results.
