It’s past time for an update…
Maggie is opting to wait until Thursday for her next chemo admission. We had blood work at the clinic last Wednesday, and all her levels were solid. Platelets didn’t seem to take as big a hit from the last chemo infusion since we switched from bevacizumab to panitumumab. The one negative aspect of the change in mab drugs we dreaded – skin irritation – has started. It is still on the mildly annoying side but will probably intensify with each infusion. I’ll post Thursday to update on Maggie’s status for admission.
Maggie’s second blog for Childhood Cancer Month is available for reading here:

I’m proud of our cancer warrior. She continues to fight with grace and strength while doing what she can to make the fight easier for others. After the last round of chemo, she bounced back more quickly than usual. In fact, she walked a 5K (3.1 miles) in support of the Zachary Little Foundation on Saturday after her Thursday discharge. I’m grateful to our entire “Team Maggie” – Maggie, Phil, Molly, Jenna Clair Lee (my niece), and Natalie Seales – for participating this year.
Thank you for your continuing prayers. The big items this week are solid counts to allow the next chemo round, controlled side effects, and relief from dry, irritated skin. We continue to be amazed and humbled by the many acts of kindness and mercy. These gifts are a refreshing, invigorating breeze sent our way to cool us from the heat of battle (thank you, Pastor Darryl Craft, for a challenging message to spread encouragement with all those we meet). Sometimes it’s hard to be on the receiving end; we would much rather be the givers. But we do appreciate each precious act of love. We were enjoying dinner last Friday at one of our favorite restaurants along with a sweet couple also involved in their own cancer journey. The bill came and Phil and Ron each whipped out the credit card to cover the entire bill. Imagine our surprise when the waiter told them they were both too late. An anonymous benefactor had treated us (all seven) to a delicious meal. What extravagance! My thank you note will have to remain composed only in my thoughts with no known addressee to receive it. I marvel at the restoring power of gratitude.
Good night! We’ll be in touch again soon.
You are so awesome! Your gift for the written word always amazes me! I guess I should have read more and talked less….lol! I love you! 🙂
Continued prayers specifically for solid counts, controlled side effects, and lots of relief from the irritated skin. Thank you for the update, and upon reading this brought my self pity that I’m having from acute bronchitis into perspective. Praying for y’all ????????❤️????????
