Quick between round update:
Maggie is feeling tired but good. She was able to drive to church Sunday – first time she’s been behind the wheel in several months. She (and her parents) wanted to make sure she was tolerating all her meds well and over the initial drugged feeling. She did fine. We have a quick appointment for blood counts tomorrow at the CCC. We opted to go there because she also has a mini PR photo shoot at Batson. She’s been invited to write 3-4 blogs throughout September as a Childhood Cancer Awareness Month feature on the Batson Facebook page. We’ll let you know as these are shared. As many of you know, she is passionate about raising funding and awareness for childhood cancers and is excited about the opportunity to be an advocate for countless children and their families.
The pictures coming in from the Houston area are devastating. MD Anderson has not been spared. We are praying for cancer patients who may experience interruptions in vital treatment as a result. Our family is thankful and humbled that a delay in starting a clinical trial there in July led us to return to Batson and the CCC for Maggie’s care. It’s hard not to think “what if” we had started the drug study and now had to deal with significant challenges to continue. As we give thanks for our higher ground, we lift up others who are displaced and suffering loss.
If all goes well, Maggie will have her next infusion admission on Thursday, September 7th. I’ll update closer to that date. Thank you for your prayers, for reading the updates, and for your encouragement. Stay safe and dry!
Thankful for the many ways God is working in Maggie’s life. Thank you for update.
GOOD NEWS, BLESS HER AND FAMILY GOOD LORD.
Thanks for update. Continued prayers
Continued prayers. Stay strong.
How exciting for Maggie to get to share blogs for childhood cancer awareness! If she writes anything like her mother, they will be over the top awesome. I can remember thinking when things didn’t work out at MD Anderson that was unfortunate and wondering why things like that have to happen to such good people. One of these days I’ll learn to trust more up front instead of on the back end. Thank God for His patience.
Praying and very thankful she is not at MD Anderson.
Bless her heart. Continued prayers. Will be thinking of her, & her family. Phil & Gay Hanberry. Love to all Debbie
I continue to pray for Maggie and her family. I rejoice in the opportunity that Maggie has to give back to Batson and give encouragement to the families of children who are suffering from childhood cancer. Great news!
