Maggie is much better tonight. The number of trips to the bathroom has dropped exponentially – Praise the Lord. She’s still tired and will need more time to recover, but, if all goes well, we’ll leave for home in the morning. She was given two units of blood to help with recovery this afternoon. We’ve made the decision to postpone the next chemo infusion a full week to give her gut a break (it will now be a Monday, July 31st, admission for chemo). We’re also going to consult her pediatric GI doctor for a plan to use vancomycin and Flagyl in some form as a prophylaxis to try to prevent a recurrence. One round of C-Diff is bad enough. Three? Let’s just say, we’ll work extremely hard to make this the last time.

Usually when we are discharged after a stay 3+ night stay, I use the ride home as time to plan all the housework I have to catch up. However, Phil stayed home this time out and has washed every launder-able item in the house. He says we have three socks missing mates. I say, “Only three? Congratulations. You’re hired!” He scrubbed Maggie’s bathroom to rid it of germs to guard against re-infection. We all go home to sleep on clean sheets. And he has been companion to Max and Meg to keep them from going to the kennel for boarding (since Molly was at Civitan Camp then made the trip here to give me some relief this morning). I love my husband and thank him for his thoughtfulness!

I’m happy to report the new sleeper sofa was an incredible success. The back cushion portion rotates and folds out into a twin sized bed on top of the sofa seat. It’s fairly firm, but with my mattress top in place, I slept like a rock.

We continue to thank you all for your prayers and acts of kindness. We know we are loved!

I’ll update from home later in the week or as we have new information or concerns.
