First, the DNow report: Friday afternoon at the time Maggie needed to be packing and preparing to go, she felt nauseated and weak. She went to bed, hoping to rest awhile and go later. By evening, she decided to stay home for the night. This would prove to be a wise move. She had a pain episode requiring more pain medicine than her patch was providing. At this point, Phil and I were heartbroken, thinking her weekend would be spent at home in bed. Were we ever wrong. Saturday morning found Maggie bouncing around packing to join her group at the Treat’s house. That’s the last we saw of her (with the exception of photos on social media) until Sunday lunch. She felt good and strong the rest of the weekend. We are grateful to all who made this a specific focus of prayer. I was reminded once again of God’s faithfulness and the need to trust in Him for His answers in His time. Maggie was overjoyed to be a part of reaching youth with the vital message to find their satisfaction in Christ.
Maggie and I will make the trip to Batson for a 9:00 am clinic appointment in the morning. If all goes according to plan, she’ll be admitted for chemo Round 52. This will be the second round using Cetuximab as the targeted therapy. We’ll know via her CEA (tumor marker – a protein measured in her blood that indicates the relative amount of tumor activity in her body) if the “tweak” to her chemo regimen is working. We’ll keep you posted. We’re praying this round is easier on her tummy while being wildly effective.
Thank you for prayers and support. Our family is overwhelmed with the love from the body of Christ. I had a brief but emotional conversation at church with another mom praying her grown child through a dark valley. We were in tearful agreement on this one thing – Everything we experience (allowed by God, sent by God, whatever) is intended for His glory and our good. We will never understand it all but we can cling to that truth. And it is His Truth upholding us through every valley.
So thankful for the good weekend after all!!! God bless with the appt tomorrow & chemo. ????????????????????
God is indeed to be lifted up and may His GLORY burst forth front and Center through us all, as it has with Maggie!!!
Praying right now that Maggie has NO side effects from chemo 52! FIFTY TWO!!!!!! That is hard to believe. Bless her sweet heart. It is mind blowing to think of all she has been through then to look at that beautiful smile as she stands with Jenna Clair, Lauren, Abby and all those beautiful young girls they were able to minister to.
