Maggie gets her break! We’re holding off her chemo round until Monday week – 11/27. This should give her gut the time it needs to heal before hitting it again hard with drugs. Maggie and I are leaving early tomorrow for a quick overnight trip to Birmingham. We will drop in for a brief visit to see our friends in the Phase I clinical trial group and say a big “Thank You” with a gift before engaging in a bit of retail therapy. I want to share the complete story behind the gift and the trip. Thanksgiving offers the perfect chance to talk about those events, our feelings, and what we learned but, right now, I’m too sleepy to write it. I think the story is best told AFTER we make the trip anyway. I can tell you, it is not an easy thing for either of us. This is our first visit to the clinic and the city since spring when so much happened that is freighted with emotion. We’re praying for the strength to face it with nothing but gratitude and peace. I’ll share the full details later this week.

Thank you for prayers for Maggie’s healing and recovery from C-Diff and our decision to delay chemo. Her numbers all looked good, so we would have been clear to go ahead with the treatment tomorrow. We’re pleased Maggie will have a good Thanksgiving with a returning appetite and rest. God is good.
