After a few days of rest following her last chemo admission, Maggie has surprised us with her strength and appetite. She was even able to attend church Sunday for the first time in several months. She is sleeping better than she has in recent memory and is able to wake much earlier in the morning feeling rested. Last night we had a fun family outing to see John Mayer in concert in New Orleans. Maggie walked to the arena and back to our hotel without tiring or experiencing shortness of breath. The ability to feel well enough to have fun is a huge answer to prayer.

Tomorrow Maggie will have a PET/CT scan in Jackson at the Medical Mall. She’s probably experiencing the worst part of that ordeal right now – the 24 hour high protein/low carb diet that helps ensure accurate results (Breakfast won’t be the same without Otis Spunkmeyer). A PET scan has the added feature of showing the doctors the metabolic activity associated with all masses to take out the guess work in identifying malignant tumors from scar tissue and other post surgery changes. We’ll have the dreaded “weekend’ wait before hearing results Monday morning at the cancer clinic. If the scan indicates this chemo is working, we’ll stay the course and plan our next admission. If measurable progression is discovered, we’ll discuss and choose the next chemo. There are still several drugs/regimens she has not had. We’ll post an update Monday evening to keep you all informed.

We’re praying for accurate scans to help us determine the most effective treatment for Maggie. More importantly, we’re praying for absolute trust in the absolute goodness of God to allow us to keep walking each day in fellowship with Him. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Thank you all for praying and walking with us.
