What a difference a day makes…

Maggie is feeling much better today. The blood cultures (24 hours out) are negative for infection, and she is pain/fever free. Cultures will be checked again at 48 hours, but it looks like the gall bladder was inflamed from the biopsy procedure. We are still on go for an early morning trip to Interventional Radiology (our second home?) to have the biliary drain internalization/stent placement. Dare I say it: if we have no immediate complications, she may be discharged from the hospital after recovering. We will stay one more night at the hotel next door – to be safe. Home is looking like a good possibility Tuesday.

We will also be making plans for the next infusion of Panitumumab. We’re hoping to arrange to have this at Batson’s Children’s Cancer Center. Maggie is ready to be closer to home. Jackson is an easy one day round trip affair. Any procedure here at UAB requires an overnight stay. If Maggie’s digestive organ family will cooperate, we can turn our focus to shrinking that tumor. Right now, the spleen and pancreas are to be commended for keeping their cool while the neighborhood is on fire. We’re praying the others follow suit.

I’ll try to update tomorrow – with news of a successful/complication-free procedure (we hope) – with a longer update tomorrow evening. As ever, we thank you for the prayers and encouragement. With storms apparently past us for a time, let’s all rest easier tonight.
