15895762_1276175802444328_5861944661173313741_oMaggie has a scheduled clinic visit and treatment tomorrow at UAB. The coordinating nurse and I thought our original plan was to travel over Wednesday to avoid the early morning drive Thursday. However, Maggie says she is not missing church activities (early afternoon to 8:30 for a busy youth intern), so we will start out around 6:00 am Thursday, maybe a little earlier. Our revised schedule has us staying the night (can you say “afternoon nap”?) and returning Friday. We appreciate the prayers for safety and minimal side effects. Thus far, this has been the “mildest” chemo she has taken. We’re praying it is the most effective. She continues to get numerous comments on her appearance – she just doesn’t look sick at all with cancer or any other illness. That is one of God’s special mercies. I’ve started to list at least one “mercy” from Him for each day. Some days they hit me over the head with their obvious presence – other days they tiptoe in with subtle stealth, taking my breath away at their discovery. I’m thankful for them all. I’ve attached a photo taken in Asheville at Biltmore (by Phil) previously shared on Facebook (many of you have seen it). I could say a thousand words more on the mercies of God, but, for once, I’ll keep silent and let the smile say it.

One housekeeping note: when we moved from CaringBridge to Leaf by Leaf, I was supposed to transfer all of my longer posts (essays, blogs, whatever) to have them available. For one reason or another, I’ve failed to do this. I’ll be adding them in over the next few weeks. You may get notices of new content being added. I apologize if this gets annoying. I’m not savvy enough to turn this off. Bear with us, and we’ll get through it soon and have only brand new content to offer.

Thank you for continuing to walk with us. My prayer for you is that you never miss the mercies of God – both great and small – that fill your life.
