Maggie’s infusion/clinic visit went off without a hitch yesterday. We finished and checked into our hotel in time for a quick nap. After sleeping off the Benadryl (premed), Maggie even felt like going out for dinner. We continue to be thankful for no-low nausea with this chemo course. We awoke this morning to updated weather advisories calling for snow from Birmingham to Asheville (and beyond), so we loaded the truck (Phil’s bad boy for handling snowy mountain roads) and started out. We did beat most of the storm conditions – arriving in Asheville around 5:00 pm. Our trip has been planned with the much-appreciated help of Asheville’s economic development rock star and family friend (and former Hattiesburg resident) Ben Teague. He had made reservations at the Hyatt Place downtown and tipped off the staff to prepare for Maggie’s arrival. Her bed was covered with amazing gifts from all over town. How heart-warming to find Mississippi-style hospitality in North Carolina! What I want to know is how Ben pulled off the snow for her? Maggie has been hoping for a true snow event with real accumulation. Her prayer/dream/request (whatever it is) is being granted right outside our window as I type. We are safe and warm inside and will use this evening to plan our stay. Maggie’s main goal is to try out her Christmas gifts – new camera lenses. I’ll be sure to post a photo or two when I update next.

Once again, thank you for the prayers for good tolerance of drugs and safety in traveling. We are blessed to call you all friends and family.
