We had a pleasant drive over to Houston yesterday and settled into our temporary home at the Residence Inn. We chose this location for several reasons not the least of which is the shuttle service to MDA/medical facilities nearby. Good call. The complex is huge and would be one source of stress we can do without – navigating and parking. The shuttle driver dropped us off at the front entrance to the main clinic building. We had completed most of our medical record forms online last week, so check-in was a snap. We met with the oncologist Dr. Raghav briefly. He will not be able to finalize a treatment plan until he studies the CT scan Maggie had after she left his office. We will next meet with him Tuesday – which means we are here through the weekend. He did mention that he will be coordinating all aspects of Maggie’s care from here forward, but she would be able to have any standard chemo treatments (if that is the chosen route) at Batson – one answered prayer. Between tomorrow and Tuesday, Maggie will also have blood drawn for further genetic testing which may help her own treatment but will definitely impact research to aid future patients. We’re always looking for ways to redeem this mixed bag of challenges called cancer.

We came to MDA to find as many answers as possible to guide our decisions going forward. That process has started. We have more confirmation to reassure us Maggie’s care to date has been beyond appropriate – it’s been world class. We also have confirmation we are where we should be for this next stage. We can enjoy this weekend of relaxation with confidence God is going before us to prepare the best for Maggie. This morning on Facebook I shared an assurance God has given me I’d like to repeat here: We can do nothing more than trust in a God who can be nothing less than faithful to provide.

I’ll update early next week when we’ve met with the oncologist and have our treatment plan. Thank you for your continuing support and encouragement.
