We got a call this evening at 6:50 from Maggie’s oncologist. The CT scan performed yesterday was discussed this afternoon at tumor conference. The scan confirmed the results of last week’s CT of the chest showing a small (1.4 cm) spot on the liver at the resection site of the original liver metastasis and where another spot showed up then disappeared the winter of 2014. Dr. Collier said he and Dr. Berch (surgeon) are in agreement in recommending surgical removal. We are unsure of the exact nature of the spot and will have to wait for the post-surgery pathology report to find out exactly what it is. We have been praying that surgery would be on the table and feel confirmation with this unanimous conclusion. We still believe an aggressive approach is in Maggie’s best interest. After recovery from surgery, she will resume the current chemo regimen since it is working on the lung nodules. We will be meeting with Dr. Berch tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 to discuss surgery. I will update fully once we know more. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement during this wait. We were at peace all day as we prayed for limited involvement. We are praising God for this report tonight – the best possible one under the circumstances.
We pray you will like the new home for our updates. If it is your first visit, welcome! Maggie and I will both be blogging regularly in addition to keeping you informed on medical matters. Please sign up for email notification. It is our plan to post blogs weekly, although the medical situation may dictate otherwise. Updates will continue to be offered when needed. I hope to resume a more active approach to this. Looking back over my earlier posts on CaringBridge is illuminating. I’ve done a lot of writing! I haven’t been withholding information on you lately – just haven’t had time to add the color and background stuff. I promise to get better.
